Job: Sr. Systems Engineer

The incumbent is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, support and upgrades of servers, desktop PCs, hardware, software and operating systems for the internal organisation. The individual will lead the work of those involved in these activities on a day to day basis. Is also responsible for the provision of IT infrastructure services including desktop applications, Local and / or Wide area networks, IT security and telecommunications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

General Duties

  • Assist in the development of departmental objectives, processes, service delivery standards and reporting
  • Relays relevant IT – related information to the company in a timely manner.
  • Bandwidth monitoring

  • Disaster Recovery
  • External contractors for Infrastructure related work (including: networking, telephones, camera’s and other)
  • Relate Technologies requests
  • Infrastructure up to speed with latest trends
  • Systems Uptime

Knowledge Management

  • Participate in the development departmental processes and procedures relating to knowledge management and adhering to such
  • Reporting
  • Documentation/ IP storage

Personal Development

  • Proactively remain abreast of industry and IT knowledge

  • Microsoft Certification

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Matric
  • Drivers Licence (and own transport)
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience in Windows server environment
  • Microsoft certification MCP / MCSE

Preferable

  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory / Management experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
